Printable Periodic Table

By popular request, here is a printable periodic table (current version of printable file is 1 Mar 1998):

  • Printable periodic table

Periodic Table layout

The positions of the elements La, Ac, Lu, and Lr in the WebElements periodic table is justified in the article by William B. Jensen, J. Chem. Ed., 1982, 59, 634. Elements 113-118 are not known at the time of writing, but are shown "greyed-out" in the table above at their expected positions for information.

WebElements colour codes the elements according to the periodic table block within each occurs. Unfortunately, some browser programs are not capable of displaying the colours. The coding is:

  • s-block - blue
  • p-block - yellow
  • d-block - red
  • f-block - green

Nomenclature of the heavy elements

The nomenclature of the heavy elements with atomic numbers 104-108 has proved controversial, but hopefully the controversy is now resolved. WebElements uses the latest IUPAC recommendations, which seem to have been accepted by all interested parties. See this link for further details.

Strange Matter

WebElements now has added Strange Matter included by kind permission of Nick Kim at the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
