SiI3x12A: Serial ATA (SATA) Windows RAID Driver - Released

NEW - Version 10032 of the SiI3x12 Windows RAID driver is now logo-certified for Windows 2003 Server.

The latest Windows RAID driver for the SiI3x12A SATA Controller 22322f523w chip (3x12A_x86_win_rdrv-xxxxx.zip) can be downloaded from the links on the right. These drivers support Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP. Windows 95 is not supported.

Please NOTE that these are the latest GENERAL drivers that are available from Silicon Image. Some motherboard or add-in card makers may post versions with later revision numbers than the one shown here, but those are written specifically for their designs and are not intended for general use.

The latest version of Silicon Image SATARAID RAID Manager software is also attached on the right.

Comments/Special Instructions:

Preparing a 'Silicon Image SiI 3x12 Raid Driver Installation Disk'

Follow these instructions if you are creating a diskette containing the Silicon Image SiI 3x12 Raid driver.

1. Format a blank floppy diskette.

2. Use WinZip or a similar utility to unzip the Driver Zip file (3x12A_x86_win_rdrv-xxxxx.zip).Make sure you use the rdrv file and NOT the SATARAID file. The SATARAID file is the Windows RAID Manager GUI. It is not the RAID driver and will be too large to fit on a floppy. If it does not fit on a floppy, you are using the wrong file.

3. Copy all the files contained in the zipped file to the newly formatted diskette.

4. Label this floppy diskette 'Silicon Image SiI 3x12 RAID Driver Installation Disk'.

For anyone having problems updating the latest 3112 RAID driver from the Microsoft Update site, the attached version will address the problem.(until Microsoft updates their update site).

To update your OS using this file, do the following:

For Win2k: 1. Right click My Computer, Properties, hardware, device manager, SCSI and RAID controller, 2. Double click Silicon Image SiI3112 SATARaid Controller, select driver, update driver, next, and select "Display a list of the known drivers for............" 3. Load the driver from A: (if the driver package is located on the floppy). The driver should be updated/installed and shown as Microsoft logod driver.

For XP, 2003:

The following changes were made for this release:

1. Right click My Computer, Properties, hardware, device manager, SCSI and RAID controller,

2. Double click Silicon Image SiI3112 SATARaid Controller, select driver, update driver, next, and select "Install from a list or............"

3. Load the driver from A: (if the driver package is located on the floppy). The driver should be updated/installed and shown as Microsoft logod driver.

1. Add new SVID=103C, and SPID =2A1E for HP.

2. Add new SVID=174B, and SPID=0A44 and 0A45 for ATI's customers.

3. Add new SVID=1462, and SPID=0030 for ATI's customer MSI.

4. Fixed a S3 suspend/resume problem that was induced in earlier base driver.

5. Override the default value of each port's PHY configuration register with the value 0x0000020C to increase the output amplitude.

6. Modified the way driver handles ATA/ATAPI pass-thru IO CTLs to treat all such commands as vendor unique (even if they are not).

This change will cause the driver to select the appropriate SATA protocol for the command based on information about the command passed in the IOCTL rather than relying on the hardware's default protocol for the command.

7. Fixed a data corruption problem in Raid0 set formed by some very early Seagate SATA drives that need Mod15 patch as listed in our INF.

8. Made extensive changes to cut down the amount of memory used by the driver.

9. Add controller properties in the controller panel and add device info tab and flash BIOS tab to the controller properties in the device manager.

10. Add new PIDs 4379 and 437A for ATI SB400.

11. Fixed bug in ATA/ATAPI Pass-thru IOCTL. The IOCTL was not writing one of the extended task file registers correctly.

12. Fixed bug in GPIO control IOCTL.

13. Added emulation support for SCSI Read/Write Buffer commands
