INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION

Impact

I.     Selection of the type of industrial automation component:

INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION can be done using systems such as

II.     Prepare a B. O. M :

B.O.M stands for bill of material, this is prepared as following:

III.     System configuration:

This is a pictorial diagram of the communication (type of protocol used) between PC/SERVER and the PLC/DCS controller. It also specifies the communication between the PLC/DCS controller and the I/O modules.

If above documents are approved and all commercial matter is cleared then a purchase order is sent by the client and thereafter the execution of the project commences.

GENERAL OVERVIEW FOR THE EXECUTION OF A PROJECT :

The primary requirement is the P & I diagram, I/O listing and process logic which is gathered by our expertise . After which we detail them down the following specification in accordance with the P & I diagram and I/O listing of their plant.

IV.     Panel General arrangement (G.A):

Panel is an enclosure which protects the DCS/PLC hardware from the external atmosphere and physical damages. Here the physical dimensions are plotted. Panel GA shows the preview of the actual panel appearance and the pattern in which the DCS hardware are mounted. The width, height, area, different views, doors, fans, material used in the making of the panel, dimension of the door and the ventilators used etc.

V.     Power distribution of panel:

The power distribution is done on the basis of PLC/DSC hardware triggering voltage, so as to whether an AC or DC power is to be supplied. The panel power distribution is done keeping in mind all the safety measures (like short circuit, over voltage etc.) and for an easy troubleshooting. The wiring is done in accordance with the INDUSTRIAL STANDARDS.

VI.     DCS I/Os wiring:

To which panel what type of input/output is to be connected is decided in this section. This is done keeping in mind the number of analog and digital input/output.

Once the above document is approved by the client company then the following procedure is executed:

VII.     Fabrication of panel:

The mechanical structure of the panel is constructed according to the approved GENERAL ARRANGEMENT (G.A). The panel made is 2mm thick, MS powder coated, RAL 7032 (Standard industrial panel shed).

VIII.     POWER AND INPUT/OUPUT WIRING:

The mounting of DCS system components and wiring in the panel as per approved by the client is accomplished in this section and henceforth the panel is ready to be switched ON.

IX.Hardware testing

All the hardware components are tested for power and a “POWER ON” indication on the DCS hardware approves the hardware component and power distribution.

X.     Preparation of the PC/SERVER.

Installation of the DCS system software and all other requirements in the PC/SERVER, that makes it ready to communicate with the panel.

XI.     Communication of the DCS hardware with the PC/SERVER.

a)     The following is the I/O channel connection of analog input module and TB (“Terminal Block” is the connector between the field instruments and the I/O channel) similar connections can be drawn for all the other analog input modules.

b)    The following is the I/O channel connection of analog output module and TB (terminal block is the connector between the field instruments and the I/O channel) similar connections can be drawn for all the other analog output modules.

c)     The following is the I/O channel connection of digital input module and TB (terminal block is the connector between the field instruments and the I/O channel) similar connections can be drawn for all the other digital input modules.

d)    The following is the I/O channel connection of digital output module and TB (terminal block is the connector between the field instruments and the I/O channel) similar connections can be drawn for all the other digital output modules.

VII.       FABRICATION OF PANELS:

The mechanical structure of the panel is constructed according to the approved GENERAL ARRANGEMENT (G.A). The panel made is 2mm thick, MS powder coated, RAL 7032 (Standard industrial panel shed).
